Comunidad Maya Pixan Ixim (CMPI) is a Maya led 501(c)(3) organization founded by the Maya community in Omaha, NE. CMPI is a transnational organization with deep relationships to Maya Nations and Territories. CMPI offers services through programs designed to promote Maya sovereignty, self-determination, and the rights of Indigenous peoples. CMPI programs include the Maya Human Rights Program offering legal representation for Maya & Indigenous migrants in the U.S., Maya civic engagement, & human rights in Maya Territories. CMPI also partners with universities, agencies, and institutions to offer a Maya Health Initiative, a Maya Arts & Culture Program, a Maya Education Initiative, and the Maya Regeneration Project. CMPI community members in NE primarily speak Q'anjob'al Maya but work with other Maya and Indigenous groups and nations. We have an immigration & human rights attorney on staff and Maya advocates who provide technical training on best practices for working with Indigenous migrants. We have offices and representatives in Omaha, NE, San Diego, CA - Tijuana, BC, Mexico, & in Q'anjob'al Territory. We will work with eligible detained Maya migrants needing legal representation anywhere in the U.S.
