The New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) is a not-for-profit law firm providing free legal services to low income clients. NYLAG's Immigrant Protection Unit (IPU) handles a wide variety of immigration matters, including naturalization applications, relative petitions, adjustment of status applications, T and U visas, VAWA petitions, asylum, applications for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), applications for temporary protected status (TPS), and deferred action (including DACA), as well as removal defense cases. Additionally, IPU attorneys provide trainings and workshops for other professionals working with immigrants. IPU does outreach to New York City immigrant communities in an effort to ensure that immigrants are aware of the availability of free, quality legal services.
